Lucrana Simmentals scooped the major awards at the 2013 Sydney Royal Show. Exhibiting just 2 entries, both the Grand Champion Simmental Bull and Female were awarded to Lucrana. It was the studs first time at Sydney, making the achievement even more exciting for the Moore family.

Under judge and highly respected cattleman, Ivan Price of Moongool Charolais Yuleba QLD, Lucrana Elsa was named Senior Champion Female, then going on to claim the Grand Champion sash. Elsa was shown with a 6 month old heifer calf at foot, Lucrana Hilda. This follows on from a Supreme Interbreed Female title at the Glen Innes show in February. The judge commented, “ She carries great muscling but retains that refinement through the frontend. She’s a wonderful matron, and doing a great job on her calf.” Elsa’s calf, Lucrana Hilda will be offered for sale at the Lucrana Annual Sale on July 5.

In the bull judging, Lucrana Garner secured the Junior Champion sash after winning the 16 to 20 month class. Weighing in at 894kgs, with fat scans of 11 and 7mm, and a 125 square centimetre eye muscle area, Garner was awarded the Grand Championship over the Senior Champion bull. Judge Price was full of praise for the solid red sire prospect. Commenting, “ He’s got what the industry wants – fat cover while retaining muscle.” Garner was then named the breeds best exhibit over stablemate Lucrana Elsa. He will be offered for sale as Lot 1 on July 5.

Representing the Simmental breed in the Interbreed judging, the Lucrana pair were pulled out in the final 6 in the prestigous Hodern Trophy for Supreme Interbreed Pair of the show. A wonderful result against the best of every breed, considering  both animals were from Lucrana.
